Teaching Credentials
David Crookston is a native of Utah. He has always enjoyed Music since his early childhood. He began taking piano lessons as a young boy from Myrtle Phillips in Kaysville, Utah. It wasn't until his senior year in high school, when he heard the harp played as a solo instrument. There was an immediate connection to the instrument and he began his search for a harp.
Since that time, Mr. Crookston has rarely not been involved with the harp in some aspect. He has studied with Adine Bradley (S.L.C., Utah), Becky Smith (Bowie, MD) and Elizabeth Blakeslee (Falls Church, VA). He has passed the Associated Board for the Royal Schools of Music Grade 6 exam (with distinction). Additionally, Mr. Crookston holds an A.A.A. degree from Northern Virginia Community College in Music Theory and Harp Performance.
Mr. Crookston has been teaching in the Lake Ridge area over 12 years. His students have won prizes and scholarships at local competitions and have gone on to study harp at the collegiate level.
