Heatherwood Harp Ensemble
The Heatherwood Harp Ensemble was formed in January of 2000. The group was specifically
created to help adult harp players achieve the skills necessary for performing in an
ensemble, and also to provide performance opportunities for the group. The ensemble is
open to any adult harp player regardless of ability. We rehearse a minimum of once per month
at the Heatherwood Retirement Community in Burke, VA. Members are expected to have their
parts learned in advance of the rehearsal.
Our past performances include afternoon teas and holiday parties at the Heatherwood Retirement Community in Burke, VA. In March of 2003 we were invited to perform the opening concert at the “Beginning in the Middle” harp conference. This is a national conference for harpists that began learning the harp as adults. Our group also plays out in the community at such venues as Tyson’s Corner Mall, the Rockville Civic Center, and the Reston Community Association Civic Center. In December 2004 and 2005 we performed for the Festival of Lights at the Mormon Temple Visitor's Center in Kensington, MD.
